![]() ![]() ![]() The Cobra Radspeed driver is for low to mid handicappers who prefer forward-biased center of gravity. The carbon fiber face of the Stealth driver also leaves a little to be desired in terms of feel. The Radspeed will appeal more to mid to low handicappers while the Taylormade Stealth driver has more to offer beginners and high handicappers. We noticed faster ball speeds with the Taylormade Stealth driver on mis-hits down near the sole. In all, the Taylormade Stealth driver functioned better as a game improvement driver than the Radspeed due in part to the fact that it was also a bit more forgiving. The Taylormade Stealth driver also produces higher launch angles and straighter shots. The carbon fiber/polyurethane face of the Stealth driver certainly gives it a unique feel but the Radspeed driver offered a richer and more stable impact. How comparable? The Cobra Radspeed driver played about 6 yards longer on average than the Taylormade Stealth driver. While spin rates with the Taylormade Stealth driver were certainly higher than the Radspeed, overall distance was still comparable. The Radspeed plays hot, feels great and is surprisingly forgiving. ![]() The milled face feels amazing and wraps into the sole and crown for a seamless sweet spot. But once you dial it in, the results are worth it. The downside is that it can be very hard to find the right combination of front and rear weighting. This means you can adjust spin and trajectory to a very fine degree with this driver. Each of the weights (16 grams up front and 2 grams in the back) is adjustable too. The Cobra Radspeed gets its name from the radial weighting system that features a whopping 28 grams up front and 10 grams in the rear. We’ve always loved the Cobra Radspeed driver for it’s exceptionally low spin rates and seemingly endless sweet spot. We can test a real carbon fiber-faced driver against a traditional metal wood and that’s exactly what we did. But the future is now and we no longer have to speculate. After all, carbon fiber face construction is very new and very unproven. Alas, Taylormade has beaten Cobra to the punch with the Taylormade Stealth driver. It’s funny with all the Cobra drivers that feature so much carbon fiber, we would have thought the first carbon fiber-faced driver would have come from them.
